Is getting your Bronze Medallion hard?
Bronze Medallion has a few challenging skills that candidates must master in order to obtain their qualification. For some 13-year-olds, the endurance swim and life saving skills are a piece of cake. For others (especially those without a strong swim background) these skills can be tough.
What does Bronze Medallion give you?
The Bronze Medallion is the second step towards the lifeguarding certification in Canada. The award is part of the Lifesaving Society’s Bronze series of awards. It teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness.
Do you need bronze cross to be a lifeguard?
Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. The Lifesaving Society deems its certifications to be “current” for 24 months from the certification date.

Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current). Instruction & certification: Current Lifesaving Instructors teach and evaluate most items, but only Bronze Examiners may certify candidates.
Does a bronze medallion expire?
The Bronze Medallion is only valid for a 12 month period. If you proceed and obtain your Pool Lifeguard Licence, there is no need to renew your Bronze Medallion, however if you are using your Bronze Medallion as a vocational qualification, you will need to renew it every 12 months.
How long does Bronze Medallion last?

The Bronze Medallion Award is current for a period of 12 months from the date of the final assessment.
Is Bronze Star the same as bronze medallion?
The Bronze Star is an award for secondary school students. The Bronze Star will test the candidate’s knowledge, fitness, skills and judgement and is a step towards achieving the iconic Bronze Medallion.
How much does Bronze Medallion cost?
The cost for the Bronze Medallion course is $220 which includes a 1-year membership to Dee Why SLSC, along with all your training and course materials.
